To the fun and friendships of the World Wide Web

Hello there,

It’s been 25+ years since I first went online. It was an underwhelming experience. But also one that hinted at something exciting. Because I remember it so clearly. The sound of the modem. The thrill of typing db.no (or was is vg.no) into the address bar. Mom making herself a coffee while we waited for something to happen. The page loading slowly, the regret of clicking a link as the whole process started again.

Fast forward 3-4 years, and I was keeping in touch with Jonatan via ICQ. Guri and myself trading desktop wallpaper collages we made with images found online. What did we put on those wallpapers, Guri? I am guessing mine were all Leonardo DiCaprio and Jared Leto.

It was fun, it was informal, it was creative, it was all about friendships…

And for me, this weird year has brought that all back.

In between the front-end framework wars and shitposting on Twitter, I found friendships and fun:

Thank you all for being there/here 💕

Until next week,
Benedicte

🔴 📈 This month’s POW! Status Update turned into a Birthday Party. Thinking we might make it a party every month!?! I had fun, some of you joined in, and we kept it real/chaotic 🤣

Join the crew!

All the shenanigans from me and my piratical family, straight to your inbox.
