Dating app Grindr leaks data, the Norwegian Consumer Council takes a stand

Hello again,

This week I want to give a huge shout-out to the Norwegian Consumer Council (Forbrukerrådet) for standing up for privacy!

Out of Control is their newest campaign, shedding light on how the adtech industry exploits consumers.

Their report reveals, amongst other things, that popular dating apps, such as Grindr, share location, sexual preferences, and more with third parties.

They are also filing a formal complaint against Grindr, directed to the Norwegian Data Protection Agency.

It is great to see them taking a stand and upholding Norway’s long-standing strict views on privacy.

Maybe privacy is our new oil?

I was so exited I recorded a celebratory live video on Facebook (in Norwegian) on my way to the office. I know I know, Facebook is the evilest of them all…

What are your thought on privacy these days? Have you stopped using a service because of privacy concerns? Let me know by replying to this email!
